HOKIE HI Event Registration
The HOKIE HI Committee is working to prepare for this fall’s welcome events. HOKIE HI is a series of programs and events designed to not only welcome new freshman and transfers to campus but to also welcome back returning Hokies.
In addition to the many traditional events such as the Hokie Spirit Picnic and the Movie on the Drillfield, student organizations and university departments are encouraged to schedule programs. If your organization or department is planning an event that will occur during the first few weeks of classes, we hope that you will consider registering your event with HOKIE HI.
Why should I register my event?
Ten thousand copies of the HOKIE HI booklet will be distributed to all residence halls rooms and various locations across campus. Information about HOKIE HI events will also be given to local apartment complexes. The HOKIE HI website will be listed in the orientation schedule of both freshman and transfer students. Inclusion in the HOKIE HI publicity will allow your event to be advertised to thousands of VT students.
Are there guidelines for events included in the HOKIE HI publicity?
- Event must be sponsored by a recognized university organization or department
- Event must be open to all VT students
- Events with admission limited to specific departments or groups will be restricted to the Hokie Hi website
- Event must be alcohol free
- Event must be held between August 19 and August 28, 2009
- Events approved before May 15, 2009 will be included in the Hokie Hi booklet and on the Hokie Hi website (exception for events with limited admission, see above)
- Events approved between May 16, 2009 and August 1, 2009 will only be included on the Hokie Hi website
What is the approval process?
Members of the HOKIE HI committee will review events that are submitted. Event approval will be sent via email. We reserve the right to edit content and refuse the listing of any event.
My event was approved. What else is required?
- Post your event on the VT Event Calendar: http://www.vtnews.vt.edu/submit_event.php.
- Use the HOKIE HI logo on all event advertising.
- After your event, send us photos and a count of how many people attended.
